Central Berkshire EBP | Former Trustee
Central Berkshire Education Business Partnership (CBEBP) is an independent charity working in the Reading and Wokingham Boroughs of Berkshire. Since 1993, the team have worked with education and business providing a wide range of programmes to match the needs of young people, teachers, employers and employees.
Working with education and business to help all young people acquire the skills and experience they need for their own development and to enable them to play a full part in the life of the community.
The main focus of our work is with young people aged 14 - 19, however many of our programmes go beyond this age group.
Employability programmes on offer:
Workwise | Aimed at students in Year 10 and above, Workwise gives young people a chance to gain an awareness of the skills that all employees use in the work place such as communication, team work, negotiation and listening through the participation in work experience
Work Ready | We have developed a wide variety of events and activities alongside businesses who want to help young people understand the skills employers are looking for and help them to develop the attitudes and capabilities to be successful when they leave school.
Transitions | This programme for students in years 10 and 11 is funded by the BIG LOTTERY which means schools do not incur any charge from CBEBP
for each student with a different set of needs, to receive a tailor-made Transitions package.
Job Safari Adventures | Kickstarted by funding from Verizon and supported by local businesses, this programme of careers activities helps pupils in Primary School to understand what a career is; the many different careers they could aspire to, and what their education means for their future.
Work Experience Direct | This new package is offered directly to parents for students who want work experience. We do this by using a full matching service where we source placements within the Reading & Wokingham areas or we can process placements found by a student.

Springboard UK | Ambassador
The Springboard Ambassador Programme is designed for people already working in the hospitality, leisure and tourism industry to develop their skills in spreading the word about the exciting and varied career opportunities available to potential recruits. Since joining as an ambassador, I have been lucky to have been involved in some great initiatives such as Skills London, the launch of National Waiters Day and providing back-end support from my team in Kathmandu during Springboard's highly successful Trek in Nepal which raised over £100,000 for the charity in 2014.
